My First Time at the Cheese Festival
This weekend I was invited to the Cheese festival, my first time at this sold out event and with the luck of great weather it was everything I was told to expect. The weather played along nicely and the scenic drive to the Sandringham farm was both beautiful and pleasant.

We were greeted by our host Sekoati Tsubane and escorted to be Checkers Tent where SA’s very own diva, Nataniel, hosted one of the best shows I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing.
The meals he made were simple and true to the motto of the festival using only locally made cheese. To say he was just entertaining would be an understatement because this man had everyone sitting up straight and waiting with baited breath for every instruction. I must admit I’ll be trying out some of the meals and I’ll let you all know how that goes, but as all shows go, this one was worth it’s weight in cheese.
Enjoying the Vibe
The rest of the set up was lovely. A friendly crowd was entertained by live music in the centre of the field and at the food stalls you could find everything from the regular braai vleis to a cheese burger. My choice of course was a glass of the Checkers Chardonay followed by a craft beer and a walk around the grounds nibbling on delicious cheese. I did leave with a cheese platter and loads of biltong and sweets that was way too yummy to refuse. The fact that the event was sold out all weekend just shows that by next year it’ll be twice as big. I really hope I make it to the next one. Keep your eyes peeled for details so you don’t miss out either.
