Mondiall Restaurant: Beautiful Brunch


This week’s Tuesday is one of my favourite’s in recent memory, largely thanks to the lovely media brunch at Mondiall that I was lucky enough to be invited to. Mondiall is one of my favourites at the Waterfront and everyone that I’ve recommended them to have raved about their experience there. The restaurant is overseen by Peter Tempelhoff and headed up by Chef Oliver Cattermole. They offer exquisite food at prices that are comparable to most places in Cape Town. But, crucially, their offering is streets ahead in terms of quality and presentation. And the fact that they have one of the best views in Cape Town doesn’t hurt either.

IMG_20140515_183740Before we got started with the main business of brunch, we tasted a selection of pastries of which the cinnamon swirl was the clear favourite! Then brunch. I chose the Eggs Norwegian, but all the other choices looked equally delicious, although the most interesting was the Omlette Arnold Bennet which includes haddock, gruyère, hollandaise sauce and chives.

While we chatted and feasted we were approached with the all-important question: “Anything for Dessert?” and luckily I was sitting at the end of the table with the people who like to eat. So, naturally, the answer was yes and we worked our way through the Maple & Pecan Pie, the Mondiall Chocolate Sundae and the Cape Malva Pudding, all beautifully presented and all decadently delicious!


Side Note: Mondiall is running a lovely lunch special at the moment, either their Wagyu Burger with CBC craft beer (R95) or Fish & Chips with a glass of wine (R95).
