I love wine!
There are a multitude of wine estates in Cape Town and the surrounding areas, and most of them offer a really enjoyable experience. But with all the options (and limited time) I just wanted to pick out a couple of the ones that I really enjoy and profile them from time to time. So if you’re doing a “wine self-tour” have a look at some of the highlights of the individual wine estates to help make your decision on which ones you want to visit.
So here’s my first Stellenbosch Wine Estate:
Wine tasting is R20 for 3, or R30 for 6 and they have around 25 wines to choose from. So it’s a good selection at a standard price. The estate has been built with a Tuscan feel and is quite fancy. But what makes Asara stand out from the rest are the beautiful views that you enjoy while tasting the wines. As you look out there’s a stretch of water, then the vineyards with mountains in the distance – just lovely!
The location is also very convenient – its just past Spier before you get to Stellenbosch (coming from the N2) in Polkadraai Rd.
Visit their website: www.asara.co.za for all the details – in addition to the wine tasting they have accommodation, restaurants and a chocolatier!
