Banele Desai

Banele was born on the 8th October 2004. Other than his date of birth, there is no other birth history for him.

He was born HIV-positive to a single mother suffering from an alcohol addiction. At 5 months he was left abandoned at the Somerset Hospital in Cape Town. He was treated for tuberculosis and pneumonia over a period of months. After this he was moved to palliative care. After a short Read More spell there, he was moved to the Fikelela Children’s Home in Khayelitsha. 

On 15 December, 2005, a corporate visit by a large insurance company, was going to change Banele’s life forever. On this day, he was going to meet his adoptive mother, Fatima Desai, a single Mom of a teen son who was doing her MBA part-time at that time.

Two years later, Banele moved to the leafy suburbs of the Cape where he had been legally fostered. His adoption was registered in 2013.

Due to the HIV and FAS, Banele lives with intellectual disabilities and mental health issues,  His physical health requires that he receives specialized treatment from multiple medical experts. He attended a school for learners with special needs but a homeschooling environment was considered to be better for his development. Despite the limitations, he aspires to creating opportunities for his own personal growth.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” is the question we get Read More asked throughout our younger years. My calling was not clear to me until I reached my 20s. At this point in my life, I had established myself in a career, I’ve always loved classic cars even though we did have one in my neighborhood. Grandfather each time he come back home, would get me those magazines and books about cars.
This is why I did not agree with the other girls about our desires to be Doctors, Engineers, charted Accountants, etc. Because I did not have those desires at all. I am certain that my involvement in cars has helped me to become a better person and a better student. The people who work in this industry are very grateful for what they have and are also very giving. They have shown me that we should help those who aren’t as lucky as us and help guide them down a successful path in life. My passion for cars has given me the ability to write critically about topics I did not think I could write about, academically.
The career I choose to pursue is automotive journalism. I choose this for three reasons: love cars, I enjoy writing, and I enjoy giving people knowledgeable information. Meanwhile, others think of fashion, politics, and food.
In this blog, I will be talking more about car features and the review’s both old, classic, and sports cars. Focusing also on the price, safety, tech, fun, and lastly environment .let’s focus on cars and Travel.
