This is one of my favourite places in the world. And my very favourite African game park.
It’s difficult to describe the peace of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (on the border of Namibia and Botswana) – with no cellphone signal, no internet connection and very few people – it is one of the best places to really get away from the craziness of life.
Chevrolet gave us a Trailblazer for the 10 days, and at 4:30 on Friday morning we loaded up the car and got on the road. It’s a long drive – 11 or so hours at the moment with delays from numerous stop and go’s on the N7. But the combination of predominantly straight roads and the comfort of the Trailblazer made it a comfortable easy trip.
Game Viewing
The Kgalagadi is often about the small things – a Cape Fox with her cubs, a wild cat at rest and the gorgeous, curious Pearl Spotted Owlets.
And also the big things – magnificent black mane lions and a cheetah sighting right next to the car.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer
Thank you Chevrolet for the Trailblazer – it is the perfect vehicle with just the right combination of luxury and ruggedness and its fuel efficiency was probably the best surprise of our trip. It truly is a multi-functional vehicle serving as our shelter during a couple of thunderstorms, our viewing deck at the waterholes where we spent most of our days, our kitchen, a respite from the 40 degree + heat, an epic transporter with awesome 4×4 capabilities and full-featured entertainment centre for the long hours of driving.
